Recreation in the municipality revolves around local, district, and regional programs. As well as local recreation opportunities, the Rural Municipality of Blanshard belongs to the Midwest Recreation District, the Daly-Saskatchewan Recreation District and the Midwest Tourism District.

There are a multitude of local and regional tourist attractions and opportunities for leisure within the municipality and surrounding area. Most are within an hours drive.



Midwest Recreation District
Mrs. Bonnie Michaudville, Recreation Director

Midwest Recreation District serves the area of the Town of Hamiota, and the Rural Municipalities of Hamiota, Blanshard, Miniota, and Woodworth.

Working closely together, the Facility Foreman and Recreation Director provide facility management to the Hamiota & District Sports Complex, Hamiota Aquatic Centre and Hamiota Municipal Park.

Programs are determined annually and promoted throughout the district.

Grant assistance for non-profit community organizations is an important service of the recreation district. Many community projects have benefitted from this service.

Daly/Saskatchewan Recreation Commission serves the the area of the Town of Rivers and Rapid City, and the Rural Municipalities of Daly, Saskatchewan, and Blanshard.

Rolling River School Division is a facility partner.

Goals of the commission include promotion of recreational program initiatives, resource assistance, and volunteer/leadership development.

Mission Statement:  To encourage and provide opportunities for people to experience leisure through the initiation of public recreational programs which shall include all aspects of Youth, Adult, and Senior recreation - physical, social, cultural, and artistic: all striving to meet the recreational needs of all communities involved in the partnership.

Organized to promote the area encompassing the Rural Municipalities of Hamiota, Miniota, Blanshard, Woodworth and the Town of Hamiota. Festivals, special events, specialty farms, camping, museums, sporting facilities, cultural events, eco tourism, boating, fishing, hiking and more can be enjoyed within these boundaries.
